Tekla BIMsight note

Could make BIMsight note to work with other cloud services?? Like GDrive, box or Skydrive? I suppose that not everyone user, for one reason or other, are using the same cloud service. In my case, im using GDrive, for the free space of this and some other features, but i cant use BIMsight note, because it just works with dropbox. Kind regards

Hi Victor, Thanks for this suggestion. Tekla BIMsight Note iOS version doesn't have this kind of functionality available. But, with Android Note, which was released yesterday, you can share the notes also via Google Drive for example. Thanks, Heikki

I just tried in an android device and doesnt work very well. i created an bcfzip file in bimsight and uploaded it in Gdrive, Gdrive recognizes this file as compressed one. Then i go to the mobile and when i try to open it from Gdrive app appears an error " The document cant no open. Because there is not an app available for this type of file". After that i tried to create a note from BIMsight note and share it in Gdrive, when i reopen it from Gdrive i had no problem, in fact this new bcfzip file was recognized as a file in Gdrive. I did the same process using dropbox and i had no problem. http://helpcenter.teklabimsight.com/photo.jsp?key=be0a1c2e-a94a-fa02-328e-0000ab1a93ba

Hi Victor, Thanks for pointing this issue out. I noticed that if you remove the .bcfzip extension in the end of the file name when saving a note then there seems to be some issues with Google Drive. But, if the name of the note contains the .bcfzip extension it seems to be working correctly, see the image below. I'll pass this issue on to Tekla BIMsight development team for further investigation. Thanks, Heikki

Dear Heikki, i think you didnt understand the problem. When i save a note (from my mobile)in Gdrive everything is ok, as you showed in the picture above. The problem is when i try to save the note from BIMsight (in the pc) and save it in Gdrive, i just save the file (with the extension BCFzip) and upload to Gdrive. For some reason Gdrive says that it's a compressed file (with BCFzip extension), but when i try to open from my mobile, using Gdrive app, i cant do it because Gdrive app says that doesnt exist an association with the file. But when i save a BCFzip file from BIMsight note, save it in Gdrive and try to open in the mobile from Gdrive app there is not problem (as you showed in the pic). I hope you can understand the problem, kind regards

Hi Victor, Ah thanks, now I got the problem and was able to reproduce the issue. So it seems that Google Drive handles the BCFzip notes as compressed archives instead of files which is then causing problems because Tekla BIMsight Android Note seems to be capable to open only BCFzip files, not compressed archives. It seems that Google Drive treats all the files having a ...zip extension in the same way, for example IFCzip files are identified as compressed archives instead of files. I noticed that there is a workaround for the issue and you can get BCFzip notes opened from GDrive app by downloading first a local copy of a note and then opening this downloaded file, see the screenshot below. Hope you find this workaround useful and apologies about the issue. I'll pass this problem on to Tekla BIMsight development for fixing. Thanks, Heikki

Hi, We have now fixed the issue with Google Drive and the updated Tekla BIMsight Note Android app is already available in Google Play Store. The updated version is now able to open the bcfzip notes straight from the GDrive without any workarounds. Thanks, Heikki

Dear Heikki, concerning the original comment of Victor. Will the iOS app, in the nearby future, also work with other cloud services? Several of my clients have an IT protocol against using dropbox. But some of them for example do use onedrive. thanks, Marcel
